The Prof Called Wenger.

Arsène Wenger
Forward-looking is the name of the game...

Instead of getting calls for World Cup analysis...my phones, the few moments I kept them open, my inboxes and many comments on FB suggest Arsenal fans are very mad that Arsene Wenger passed on the chance to re-sign Fabregas.

Of course, Le Prof could be excessively annoying when it comes to transfers...his nail-biting habit of taking ages to make up his mind on any deal, thereby eventually losing out, his snail-like method of repeatedly scouting and re-scouting a target until even a deaf and dumb notices and moves in could be excruciating....yes but coming to this one, I GIVE HIM THUMBS-UP!

Fabregas left Arsenal in 2011 after six years without a trophy, then won two in his first two games with Barcelona ...and the taunts went to town! Almost like Robin van Persie, who stayed just one more year, then joined Man U ...after seven years without a trophy, van Persie won the League in his first season with Man U...great for the best players Wenger toiled days and nights molding. Samir Nasri has been having it good at Man City.

But wait a minute! Barcelona, with Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Neymar, Fabregas...etc, just ended a season without a trophy! And good guess...Fabregas, of all people, was booed repeatedly by same fans of a club he sacrificed his cult-like figure at Arsenal to join. And worse, Barca put him on immediate transfer list! Arsenal as club and her fans would never have treated her ex-captain with such disdain. Remember Fabregas paid part of his transfer to Barca just to get home! Then van Persie! He suddenly saw himself getting off Champions League football! All his days in Arsenal, it never happened! Nasri is not at the World Cup. It wouldn't have happened had he been an Arsenal player!

And good guess again...Arsenal eventually won a trophy without the most influential players since Vieira and Henry! Can someone recall how that FA Cup was won? Does anyone remember Santi Carzola's free kick? Can anyone remember how Ramsey toed in the winner? Yet, these are the two players Fabregas coming back to Arsenal would affect most!

Arsenal fans call that Carzola should be sold to create space for Fabregas...really? Others say Ozil should be sold for Fabregas to come 'home'...wonderful! Did anyone pause to ask why we haven't won in nine years until Ozil came? Or doesn't personal aura and luck count again? Just note that Ozil was given the no 11 shirt and he helped Arsenal win the 11th FA Cup...you think that is mere coincidence? Wenger knows what he has in Ozil and the German is the fulcrum of Arsenal's charge for the new era.

Wenger did marvelously by not re-signing Fabregas. He knows exactly the players he needs to strengthen...he doesn't need Fabregas. And watch out for Wilshere! Injury has been derailing that boy...I know he's far a better player than Ramsey and Wenger knows. Just get one injury-free season off Jack and see his true quality.

In life, there are other considerations besides business...Wenger cannot wave these boys bye when they stood by him while the likes of Fabregas deserted him. Others labored to break the trophyless jinx and Fabregas suddenly remembered he was loved more at Arsenal? For joining Chelsea, our ex-captain has just proved how much he loved us in return. Should Wenger have ever bothered with a player with such mindset?

And believe me, no player ever becomes the same after leaving a man like Wenger, who does give everything to make these ingrates great!

Gunners, forget Fabregas...he's come and gone in Arsenal history. let's look forward, not backward!

Enjoy the World Cup and watch out. With FFP in place, Chelsea, PSG, Man City, Man U can't buy everyone...there will be enough players left for Wenger to make a good choice. We've won that trophy, more are on the way!
